2016 Summer Camp of IFAS for National Excellent Undergraduates was held from July 15 to 19, 2016. We have received 165 applications from many renowned universities across the country and enrolled 29 from Jilin University, Sichuan University, Xiamen University, University of International Business and Economics, Shandong University and so on.
The summer camp lasted for five days, including the opening ceremony, seminars, examination and interview, case analysis competition, study tours and farewell lunch. This summer camp was to assemble talents, select excellent students with academic interest and potential, provide students with a platform to interact and communicate.
The Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony of 2016 Summer Camp of Xiamen University for National Excellent Undergraduates was held on July 16. After that, the institute’s opening ceremony, presided by Prof. Ruan Jun, was held in Room 501 of Chengfeng Building. Vice dean, Qu Wenzhou and the Office Director, Ye Ling have attended the opening ceremony. First, Professor Qu Wenzhou welcomed all the students and introduced the university and the institute. He emphasized the advantages of IFAS as the only financial and accounting innovation base of national "985 project", which have a global vision, active cooperation with international counterparts, courses delivered in English, many overseas exchange opportunities, and so on. Then, Professor Ruan introduced the career path of graduates in IFAS and emphasized that IFAS has provided quite some talents to securities companies, banks, accounting firms and universities . At the end of the Opening Ceremony, each student gave a short self-introduction, which enhance d the understanding of each other. Professor Ruan also wished students could fully display their own advantages in the summer camp, enjoy the process and cherish this trip.

Dean’s Speech
After the Opening Ceremony, our dean, Professor Ye Jianming gave a speech named “Xiamen University in My Heart" in Science and Art Center. He shared his undergraduate study life in Xiamen University and displayed the beauty of the Xiamen university both in academic and ecology thoroughly and deeply. In his speech, Professor Ye affectionately expressed his deep love with Xiamen University, especially after ten years study experience in the United States. In addition, the dean shared his unique thinking of the contemporary university education and business education from an international perspective. At the end of this speech, students asked questions actively and the dean gave great answers.

Seminars by IFAS Professors
On July 16, seminars by IFAS professors were held in Jiageng 2, 501. Associate Professor Wang Lihong, Hu Jinshuai and Assistant Pofessor Ruan Jun have made impressive speeches respectively.
First of all, Professor Wang shared her experience of studying abroad, introduced the rigorous academic work and some basic requirements of doing research. Then Professor Hu made a profound speech about “success and choice". By quoting many examples from a talent scientist to impoverished beggars, he emphasized the importance of choice and effort and finally put forward the question whether IFAS is their best choice. At last, Professor Ruan introduced some academic problems which inspired everyone's academic interests and led members visiting the financial and accounting lab. Through these seminars , members had better understanding not only of the training mode of IFAS, but also of the courses that graduate students needs to learn.

Comprehensive Consideration to Select Elites
On July 17, written test and interview were conducted to assess the professional knowledge, English level and psychological quality of members. During the evaluation process, professors provided responsible evaluation depending on the members’ performance.
Case Analysis Competition
On the evening of July 18, case analysis competition was held in Room 501. 30 members were divided into 6 groups and each group analyzed one stock. Members perfectly showed their knowledge background and cooperation ability, notwithstanding the limited preparation time and the heavy task. Assistant Professor Sun Zengyuan and Ruan Jun attended the competition, and proposed some useful advice to them. After fierce competition, the group targeted on Hainan Airline Company won the Case Analysis Competition.

Trip to Jimei Village , Gulangyu Island and Xiangyu Company
For the last two days of summer camp, we organized all members to visit Chen Jiageng’s hometown, Jimei Village, famous scenic spot, Gulangyu Island and Xiangyu Company, which have enriched members’ summer camp experience and left them a wonderful impression on Xiamen.

The Farewell Lunch
For the last day of the Camp, Deputy Secretary of party Committee from the School of Management ,Li Feng, and teacher representatives Sun Zengyuan and Ruan Jun attended the farewell lunch. Mr. Li Feng made a conclusion speech of the five days’ summer camp, speaking highly of the excellent performance of all members and expressed sincere blessings to them. He issued certificates to outstanding delegates. Next, student representatives, Sun Tianxiang gave a speech and expressed his gratitude to all the teachers and volunteers of IFAS . He said that he obtained precious friendship and cherished this valuable opportunity to communicate with professors and excellent students of IFAS. 2016 Summer Camp of IFAS for National Excellent Undergraduates ended then with a great success.
