Mark is the Chief Executive Officer of Kaplan International Asia, managing and developing Kaplan training business in Asia. He is also the managing Director of The Financial Training Company (FTC) Asia, which focuses on Financial Markets training for practitioners in investment banking sector and capital professionals in listed firms.
Prior to joining FTC in 2003, Mark held various senior management positions in the Investment Banking Industry. Most recently Mark was Head of the Asian Equity business and the Head of Equity Research for HSBC Securities (Asia) Limited based in Hong Kong. He worked closely with business Heads of Corporate and Investment banking to facilitate many successful IPOs, such as TPV technology, Hainan Airport IPO, MTRC IPO and Star Cruises introduction to the HK stock Exchange. He also led the successful secondary placing of ICBC (Asia).
Along with Global Head of Research and Head of European Research, Mark established a standard and consistent analytical framework for research across all markets covered by HSBC. He also authored “HSBC’s Asian 100” research product, which covers all major sectors in the world such as chemical, telecom, commodities and bank. This research product is acted as a framework for the HSBC Asian research offering and as a catalyst for the promotion of the HSBC “Corporate and Investment Banking” aligned business strategy till now.
Before HSBC, Mark was the Head of Equity Research of Banque Paribas in Hong Kong from 1990 to 1996 where he also was a member of the global product team. Prior to coming to Hong Kong in the mid 90’s, Mark worked with PWC as a Capital Market consulter. He is a Chartered Accountant and member of The ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).
